I was in my childhood room seeing clients virtually via telehealth. I’m remembering my yellow room and brown carpet. I particularly remember that my last session was like most of my sessions, which empowered the client to own their voices and personal power. I walked out of my childhood room as my mother was walking out of her room and she started telling me how ungodly and wrong I was for my work and that I was a bad influence on my clients. I pushed her and scolded her because I knew she didn’t know what counseling was or how it worked, she just wanted to pull me down, so I pushed her down and told her not to EVER speak to me like like that again. I walked back to my room where my daughter was sitting now, and we talked a bit and she asked me about what just happened. I pulled up my profile to show that my mother was lying and mistaken and suddenly I was holding a book replica of the platform. I saw my profile, which clearly states I am a top performer and client favorite, but I lost the page and continued to look for it as I told my daughter about it. She said, I believe you. Then she pointed outside of my window showing that my mother had purchased a blue van and it was parked where my father’s red mustang used to be parked. It occurred to me that my mother was mad about my two vehicles being in the driveway, but did not actually say that. I then dreamed of walking near my mother’s bank we frequently visited in my childhood and saw my brother nearby with a few guys in a car. A huge snake had escaped their trunk and they were scrambling to get control of it, but couldn’t. I remember running from the large snake as other people scurried too. I was afraid of being bitten, but I think one of the guys (potentially my big brother) injured the snake with a shovel. I kept running and didn’t look back.
Your dream is quite layered and seems to involve themes around personal empowerment, familial conflict, validation, and the handling of fears or threats.
The dream begins in your childhood room, which is symbolic of your formative years and foundational experiences. Seeing clients virtually there suggests you are comfortable with your identity and profession. The yellow room and brown carpet may represent both comfort and nostalgia, grounding you in your current empowerment role. This setting can signify how your past has shaped who you are today, particularly in empowering others.
The confrontation with your mother about your work signifies internal conflict or guilt surrounding your career and personal choices. Her criticism implies judgment or perceived inadequacy. Your reaction—pushing her down and defending your work—denotes a strong need to assert your own beliefs and self-worth, standing against criticisms or doubts from influential figures in your life (such as a parent). This reflects a journey to self-authentication, where you must sometimes reject outdated or incorrect perceptions from the past.
Showing your daughter your profile that indicates success and client satisfaction is about seeking external validation and affirming your worth. Your daughter's support ("I believe you") hints at a need for emotional support and unconditional acceptance. The loss of the page could symbolize fear of losing your achievements or recognition, yet your daughter’s belief reminds you of intrinsic worth and support.
The new blue van purchased by your mother is a disruption of the old, familiar order (represented by the red Mustang that was once your father's). This might symbolize your mother's attempts to impose new control or influence over your past ("her childhood"). The color transition from red (action/power) to blue (calmness/stability) could signify attempts to mellow or challenge old authoritative dynamic but feel intrusive due to the parking situation—indicating unresolved familial boundaries.
The snake escaping from your brother's car is a classic symbol of fears, transformation, or hidden threats emerging from the subconscious. The chaos and fear it induces may relate to anxieties around family dynamics or issues you feel you must "outrun.” Your brother’s attempt to control or injure the snake shows a potential ally in dealing with these fears, although it's unresolved as you keep running, showing an avoidance tendency or needing distance from unresolved familial dramas.
This dream might reflect your ongoing struggle with balancing professional empowerment and familial roles, dealing with judgment, and addressing old wounds or fears surfacing from your past. It suggests a journey through personal boundaries, drawing strength from your profession and those who believe in you while continuing to navigate family dynamics and fears from the past effectively. It may be encouraging you to continue believing in your path and to find peace with the dissonance from parts of your origins.
Consider these themes as insights into your subconscious mind reflecting on life situations you are currently navigating or have been contemplating.
